Liverpool has opened conversations with Crystal Palace about a move for England star Marc Guehi, with their Premier League rivals reportedly likes to win the player this summer
Liverpool has been informed that Crystal Palace wants to load Marc Guehi, while they can still make a profit on the defender. Guehi started in Selhurst Park in the last year of his contract and the discussions between the clubs have now started with regard to a potential transfer of £ 35 million.
The Reds have also been told that the Palace star Ibrahima Konate exceeds competence. Palace supporter and broadcaster Rebecca Lowe have suggested that the outfit of South London is “desperate” to prevent Guehi from losing for nothing next summer, with the Premier League champions that deleted a hectic conclusion to the transfer window.
Talk about hot football! In addition to the former Arsenal star Theo Walcott, Lowe thinks that its cherished club has advertised the center of the center, which she took over from Chelsea for £ 1821 from competitors in 2021, because they want to secure a considerable amount for the English international while they can.
Questions about Guehi who settle in the first Liverpool team have been a continuous concern. Walcott, however, believes that the 25-year-old Konate, 26, can expel from his berth in the first XI of Arne Slot, because he believes that the Englishman has the advantage over the French star because of regular starting for the three lions.
“I do [think Guehi is better]”Walcott started.” Because if you mainly look at England and talk about the center halves, we are talking about the two best center halves in the country when you start for England, and he starts for England. “
The logic of Walcott may not be completely in line with the comparison of the players with international statistics. Guehi has played for England 23 times and fits with the number of performances that Konate has for Les Blues, while the latter also broke his country on an occasion in November 2024.
Walcott, however, remains determined that the transfer would be worth the Reds, because Guehi would make an immediate difference. “For Guehi he would fit in that Liverpool team and they always have the ball, so he won't be challenged much,” Walcott added.
“He will be fitter, he will learn so much. To play in Liverpool and to be next to Virgil van Dijk, these opportunities may not come anymore.”
Liverpool would like to strengthen their center-back ranks, so that Jarell Quansah could reach Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the summer. Van Dijk, Konate and Joe Gomez are currently representing their only three senior central defensive choices, with Konate entering the last 12 months of his deal and Gomez is currently sidelined by injury.
Palace chairman Steve Parish acknowledged earlier this week that losing the defender would form a “problem” for nothing and that Guehi could leave during the current transfer window. And that now seems to materialize.
Liverpool has now held their approach with conversations that will continue with a deal for Guehi for compensation that is understood as £ 30 million in advance by £ 5 million in add-ons. Personal conditions do not yet agree with Guehi.
However, he allegedly wants to make the switch. The interest of the Reds in Guehi is supposed to be separated from their pursuit for Parma's center-back Giovanni Leoni, because they are also preparing to intensify their pursuit of the 18-year-old.
