Liverpool can be looking for a new attacker this summer if they are looking for the long-term replacement of Mohamed Salah, while there are doubts about the future of Darwin Nunez, with Benjamin Sesko-eyes as a target
Former Liverpool -star Glen Johnson has encouraged his old club to wave a movement for Red Bull Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko and claims that he “is not worth it” and does not fit in the Arne Slot system. The Reds are already preparing for the following season after achieving the Premier League title and will be in advance to more firepower, despite the fact that Mohamed Salah signed a new deal.
Salah has registered an extension of two years, but there will be a desire to detect a successor since the Egyptian is about to become 33, while there are doubts about the future of Darwin Nunez.
Sesko is reserved as a potential target for Liverpool after another impressive season saw him score 21 goals in all competitions, with 13 strikes in the Bundesliga.
Arsenal has also been associated with the player in the midst of their search for a reliable No. 9, although he is said to have a release clause of approximately £ 68 million – that has risen from £ 60 million due to a performance -based clause in his contract.
The 22 -year -old should have many frees this summer, but Johnson – who played 200 times for Liverpool between 2009 and 2014 – told the Reds to consider other goals.
Johnson claimed that he is not worth his huge price tag and also has doubts about the quality of goals such as Ipswich Town Vooruit Liam Delap or Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
In conversation with TG Casino, Johnson said: “Benjamin Sesko doesn't really fascinate me enough to justify the big bucks for him,” Johnson told TG Casino.
“I would say the same thing about Liam Delap and Ollie Watkins too. I never think signing someone because of it is a good idea, unless you think they are worth it, and none of those names are for me.
“You have to think about how these players fit into your system and I don't think there are many strikers on the market that match what Arne Slot is looking. There are other areas with the field that they can first prioritize.”
Sesko recently spoke about his future to admit that “everything can happen”, but insisted that he was now concentrating on his current employers.
“At the moment I am 100 percent focused on RB Leipzig,” the striker told Sky Germany on Tuesday. Then we will see what happens. It is open, everything can happen. “
