Liverpool transfer news: Marc Guehi hopes given massive boost as striker demand made

Liverpool has seen that they have seen the hope of the landing of Alexander Isak after Newcastle refused to entertain his sale, but they could still land Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi lands

The new look side of Liverpool made their first competitive outing on Sunday, but was short of the community shield when they were defeated by Crystal Palace in Wembley.

The Reds have invested heavily in an attempt to stay at the top of English football, but Arne Slot has accepted that their line-up still has to be tuned. The Dutchman said in the aftermath of their loss: “We have four new players – we need time to adjust.”

Alexander Isak was strongly connected to a move to Anfield after he made Newcastle clear that he wanted. An opening bid of £ 110 million was rejected and the Magpies have since told their Swedish striker that he will stay in St James' park.

It leaves the Reds a decision to take their next step, but the recent sale of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz means that the team is light in the last third part. Here is the last to come from Anfield.

Eagles prepared to sell Guehi

Crystal Palace -chairman Steve Parish admitted that the club could be forced this summer to sell captain Marc Guehi. His contract is at the end of this campaign and Liverpool is thought that the front runners will continue as the middle half of England.

The Eagles boss was asked if he would consider serious bids for his captain and known: 'Yes. I mean, of course we should. For players of that caliber to leave for free, it is a problem. Undoubtedly there is no doubt about it.

“We had one bid (last summer), but Joachim (Andersen) went (to Fulham) and we could not afford to lose them both. We still had a bid in January, but that was also a difficult situation, and the player had a position about it. So we just have to see what is happening, but it needs a new contract or a conclusion of a kind.”

Van Dijk Backs Spits -Signing Sessions

Virgil van Dijk admits: “There is always room for an attacker” in what a call seemed to be for the Liverpool -hierarchy to bring in more firepower. The Reds have seen their hope to land Isak en masse, dented by the refusal of Newcastle to sell.

Slot has landed Hugo Ekitike to lead the line and he took a debut goal at Wembley, while Florian Wirtz also brings more creativity. But the departure of some of the big name attackers of the club leaves holes behind and the skipper would like to see them filled.

Van Dijk told Talksport after the loss of the community shield on Sunday: “Well, we just lost Darwin, he went to Saudi and we lost Lucho, of course he went to Bayern. I think there is always room for an attacker to strengthen us, so let's see what the window brings in the team's balance sheet.”

Tsimikas ready for exit

Kostas Tsimikas comes closer to leaving Liverpool after she was omitted from their team for their loss of community for the Shield Shield. The ECHO reports that Nottingham Forest and Leeds are United to be interested in signing the Greek star before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

The Reds bought Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth this summer and also have Andy Robertson as a backup in that position, which means that Tsimikas will fall further into the pecking order. His potential sale would help the club compensate for their expenses.
