The January transfer window is now just days away, although the focus at Liverpol will be on contracts.
The futures of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all up in the air. Their deals expire at the end of the current season, and there has been little public sign of progress in talks with any of the three.
Alexander-Arnold is being closely watched by Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants having long been linked with the right-back. Salah and Van Dijk, meanwhile, hope to extend their stay at Anfield.
Liverpool will also look to expand Arne Slot's squad in his bid to win the Premier League title. Here, Mirror Football collects all the latest Liverpool transfer news.
Van Dijk's transfer rejected
Real Madrid have no intention of signing Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. The defender's contract expires at the end of the season, with Madrid suggested as a potential destination for the Dutchman.
But according to Marca, those reports were misplaced as Los Blancos 'refused' to make 'any offer' for Van Dijk. Although he is admired and respected by the Bernabeu leaders, he is not part of their future plans.
They also do not consider the defender as a possible signing for next season. Madrid are believed to be focusing instead on younger defenders as they prepare for an overhaul of the position.
Alexander-Arnold tipped for an exit
Former Liverpool star John Arne Riise believes Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Anfield at the end of his contract next summer. Arne Riise has tipped the right back to look for a new challenge in his career.
“There has never been anyone like him in world football or at Liverpool,” Arne Riise told Amazon Prime. “He is exceptional. In modern football you have to be good defensively and offensively, he is exceptionally good with his passing and vision.
“I think he's happy, but it's more about Trent himself and what he wants from his career. Does he need something new, or is he happy here. That's the big question. I think he will go.”
Reds set out a selling position
Liverpool are unlikely to sell any players in the January window. There are a number of stars who have struggled to get opportunities since Arne Slot arrived as Jurgen Klopp's replacement.
But according to The Athletic, Slot is 'happy' with the current composition of his team. And with a busy second half of the season ahead, the Dutchman is keen to maintain the depth he currently has to guard against injuries.
Tyler Morton is a good example of this. Liverpool are making it clear they will not let him leave unless a midfielder is added. There is expected to be interest in the 22-year-old, but Slot is said to appreciate his attitude and commitment to training.
