Liverpool ‘truly deserved’ Premier League title, says Van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk confirmed his conviction that Liverpool “really earned” to win the Premier League title after they had beaten Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 to conquer their 20th top-flight crown.

The Arne Slot team needed only one point and conquered Dominic Solanke's 12th minute Header to illuminate the victory, so that 15 points from the second place were moved from the second Arsenal placed with four more games left.

Luis Diaz started the Liverpool revival before the astonishing strike by Alexis Mac Allister and the fine finish of Cody Gakpo in the party mode before the half-time whistle had sounded.

The Reds got their fourth just after the hour when Mohamed Salah hit the ball past Guglielmo Vicario before the route of Udogie concluded the route.

And in Van Dijk, Liverpool has had a solid foundation to build on this season, with the Dutchman an important part of the success of the Reds in the heart of their defense.

Van Dijk did indeed become the 12th player other than Captain Liverpool to the title title and the first non-British player who did this, conquering his second Premier League crown.

The 33-year-old is one of the eight Liverpool players in the current team who won the title in 2019-20 -20, and does this for no fans because of the Coronavirus Pandemie.

And after their victory over Spurs, Van Dijk, who recently extended his stay on Merseyside for another two years, was clearly emotionally through what he had achieved.

“Yes, of course I was desperate for them (to be here) of course, for all fans around the world, for the fans here, but also for us,” said Van Dijk.

“We have two Premier League trophies in five years, so that is still a good performance.”
