If Liverpool wins their match win over Arsenal on Everton on Wednesday, they will search the faith of their title Rivals and bring themselves in a fantastic position to win the Premier League, says Jamie Carragher.
While their shock FA Cup -Exexit in Plymouth on Sunday derailed from each talking about a four -fold tilt, Liverpool went to Goodison Park for the last Merseyside Derby on the famous land of their neighbors this week, knowing that the victory would move nine points of The Gunners in the Gunners in the Premier League with 14 games to play.
The original competition was postponed in December due to bad weather and Carragher believes that the delay has increased its importance. In the meantime, that has been the shape of Liverpool, they could now go in an even more impressive position at the top of the rankings.
“If you talk about it [this week’s] MerseSide Derby, that's the biggest game of the season, “says Carragher.
“Not because it's Everton. Liverpool has talked about a game in hand, it feels about two months like.
“If Liverpool wins, they have received almost one hand on the trophy.
“A nine points lead with 14 games to go is a huge lead with the form that Liverpool is now.
“If they could win [against Everton]Psychologically it is a huge boost for Liverpool, but also what that would do with Arsenal – I don't think many people in Arsenal would believe that they could withdraw it because it would be a huge lead in this phase of the season. “
Laverpool insured their place in the Carabao Cup final last week with a turning pot in the second ride semi-final victory over Tottenham and will meet Newcastle in Wembley next month. They are also in the last 16 of the Champions League that have held the inaugural competition phase.
A much changed side lost in Plymouth in the FA Cup, but this can still be a remarkable season for the Reds and Arne Slot, in his first season, says Carragher.
“This can be a very special season for Liverpool,” he said.
“They have been in the situation in which four trophies were still available in this phase of the season that I think twice twice that I have left Jurgen Klopp. They have left with two Carabao cups and a Fa cup They didn't win that.
“They lost the final of the Champions League, they lost to Man City during the last game of the season and they missed last season.
“The most important thing is to win the big trophies and the two largest are the League and Champions League. This has the potential to be a great season.”
