Amorim promises new contract for Man Utd star who has impressed him the most

Ruben Amorim says Manchester United will hand Amad a new contract – after hailing him as one of the players who have impressed him the most.

Winger Amad's contract expires at the end of this season, although his current contract does contain an option for a one-year extension.

But Amorim suggested the 22-year-old would be given an improved new contract, rather than an extension, after immediately impressing under him.

Amad impressed as a right back under Amorim. His relentless pressing and pace led directly to two goals in Sunday's 4-0 win over Everton.

Against that backdrop, Amorim underlined Amad's importance to United and said the club will ensure a solution is found that suits both parties.

“I think he wants to stay and we want him to stay,” Amorim said. “So that is clear and we will find a solution.”

Amorim said one of Amad's strengths is his ability to play in different positions in the 3-4-3 system the new United boss has implemented.

“For me that is one of the great advantages of Amad,” Amorim said. “He can play very well in that position, but also play between the lines, because he has good control and seems faster with the ball than without it.

“So he is able to play both positions and he can play in different systems. In the future we might play in a different system, so he is the kind of player we need in the team.”
