Liverpool’s dream run to Champions League final as Reds avoid THIRTEEN giant clubs until semis

So far, Liverpool has enjoyed a stunning campaign in the Champions League – and is in a dream situation to reach another final.

The Reds were at the top of the competition stage after winning seven of their eight group competitions. The only stain in their copy book was the defeat of Wednesday evening by PSV. Although, because of Barcelona's draw with Atalanta, Liverpool would win the competition phase with a place in the last 16 that was already insured. And it has now been confirmed that they have enabled them to avoid a number of heavy striking people from Europe.

After the tournament branch was confirmed, Liverpool turned out to play one of Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Monaco or Brest in the next round. All four those parties are confronted with a play-off and the draw will take place on Friday.

Looking further ahead, the bracket for the quarterfinals looks even more friendly for Liverpool. They would rise against one of Lille, Aston Villa, Atalanta, Borussia Dortmund, Sporting Lisbon or Club Brugge.

The semi -final will be much more open and the difficulty would then set up with Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Manchester City all wait. Other candidates are Arsenal, PSV, Feyenoord, Juventus and Celtic – albeit a huge series of those parties could already be eliminated by that time.

The only team they will only play until the final is La Liga Giants Barcelona. The Catalans ended up second and, as a result, are on the other side of the bracket.

And although Liverpool could possibly have a friendlier run to the semi -final, Arne Slot has given a warning to anyone who is too confident too quickly. Speaking after Wednesday's defeat to Feyenoord, he said: “It is definitely a good achievement to end this competition at the top.

“But I often said it is difficult to judge a table after eight games, let alone with the teams that play different opponents. It doesn't tell me much, some have had to deal with easier opponents than others , but it is always nice if there is a new format and you end up number one.

“But it gives us no guarantees for the next round, I see the four teams with which we can be confronted and especially one of them is definitely one that you hope not to face if you first end up in a group like this.”

The Dutchman added: “At the end [defeat to PSV] Had no effect on the competition's table and what it meant for the next round. I saw some good things, I saw goals admitted that I would like to see ourselves doing better, but I am sure it is the same for PSV as they gave goals. “
