When you're at the top of the league, cruising in the Champions League, in the Carabao Cup semi-finals and ready to compete in the FA Cup, you have little need for a big January shop.
Liverpool won't be busy wasting money over the next four weeks unless something crazy happens.
There is an argument that now is the time to get reinforcements. No one would have thought that Arne Slot would challenge on four fronts this season in his first year in English football. So do the Reds need a rethink and perhaps some new players to expand their squad after only signing Federico Chiesa in the summer?
Don't expect it. The Reds will only move if the opportunities present themselves and major signings will be made next summer. But that doesn't mean there won't be moves in the coming weeks with loan deals and more.
They now have their own name as a group. Don't expect them to form a boy band anytime soon, though.
Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk can all now talk to clubs outside England about signing a pre-contract agreement that would see them move to a new club in the summer.
Real Madrid attempted to offer Alexander-Arnold a fee on New Year's Eve to tempt Liverpool to cash in on a player who could be heading to Spain this summer.
But right now that's not happening. Liverpool told Real there is no chance of the player leaving this month. The Reds have the same stance on the other two big names out of contract.
We still don't know if Alexander-Arnold will go to Spain in June for anything other than his summer holiday.
As with Salah and Van Dijk, his future remains unclear, but there is no doubt that all three will at least see out their contracts at the club, even if they do not sign new ones.
The 'saga of the summer' when it came to Liverpool transfers. Few would have known who he was until the midfielder replaced Rodri at half-time of Spain's victory over England in the European Championship final.
But it didn't take long for Liverpool supporters to become fluent in Zubimendi's language, with many believing it was crucial their club signed him if the Reds were to have any success.
When the Real Sociedad star surprisingly decided to stay where he was, there was panic that Slot's side would be seriously short in the center of midfield.
But Ryan Gravenberch stepped up and played the role of 'No. 6' next to the seemingly always impressive Alexis Mac Allister. The pair formed perhaps the best midfield in the competition this season.
If Zubimendi were to suddenly send a message that he wants to leave Sociedad now, the Reds could be tempted, but on current form that isn't happening and the Reds would rather wait until the summer before re-evaluating whether their midfield needs to be replenished.
As mentioned, don't expect this unless a target becomes available. It was in 2022 when Liverpool suddenly made the move for Luis Diaz as Tottenham began to move forward with a deal. All signings in this window would require a similar situation.
Lyon winger Rayan Cherki and Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremy Frimpong have both been linked with the Reds, but neither are seen as realistic targets at this stage.
Liverpool will look to strengthen their defense next summer, with Andy Robertson moving to the other side of the 30 and the potential loss of Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk. But those plans will only be mapped out once they know the future of their three out-of-contract stars.
While it won't be a time for new signings to rock the boat, it won't be a time for real exits either.
Wataru Endo may not be happy about his role being reduced, but Slot still sees him as an essential cog in the overall machine at Liverpool. Someone he will rely on to come on late in games and secure results, while getting game time in the FA Cup and Champions League games to come. Marseille made the move to Endo in the summer and Liverpool were open to listening to offers, but the French side fell short of their valuation with their only offer coming in at £11.8m. Liverpool would only receive offers this month if they could replace the Japan international.
Tyler Morton was also wanted this summer. But once again the Reds were unwilling to sign the midfielder unless their valuation of over £20m was met. It wasn't like he stayed and there is no further interest yet.
Jayden Danns is back to full fitness and could now potentially leave on loan if the right opportunity presents itself. James McConnell is in a similar situation where the Reds want to help their development.
But Slot will likely see how the month goes before giving the green light to a loan move, in case injuries pile up during what will be a busy period with a two-legged semi-final of the League Cup, the FA Cup and, for the future, first time, Champions League football in January.
Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak have been busy during loan spells at RB Salzburg and Middlesbrough, but Kaide Gordon has struggled for minutes at Norwich, so the Reds may reconsider that deal and see if there is a more suitable club to get him more play.
