Lucio in ‘intensive care’ & under ‘constant observation’ after domestic accident

Brazil and Inter Milan Icon Lucio was admitted to the hospital and placed in intensive care after the suffering of burns on different parts of his body.

After the incident, the 47-year-old will be treated in a hospital in Brasilia on Thursday. In a statement, the facility said that Lucio was “stable, consciously and under constant observation.”

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Lucio ran the burns at home in a domestic accident at home.

The extent and cause of his injuries have not been announced.

Lucio, who retired in 2019, is best known for anchoring the Brazilian defense during their 2002 victory campaign and with the leading role in the historic Treble-winning side of Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho in 2010.

A powerful center back with an impressive presence, Lucio enjoyed a shimmering career in both Europe and South America, which represents clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Inter and Short Juventus before returning to Brazil, where he turned out to be Sao Paulo and Palmeiras, among others.

During his time at Inter, he won the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, the Champions League, the Supercoppa Italiana and the FIFA Club World Cup -all in the room of two years.

He also won three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich, in addition to two Confederations Cups and the World Cup 2002 with Brazil, for whom he earned 105 caps and scored four goals.

Lucio joined Juventus after his enchantment at Inter, but only appeared for the Bianconeri before returning to Brazil to see the last years of his play career.

His last professional competition came in 2019 and brought the curtain to a 22-year career that saw him win 17 team trophies.
