Flamengo coach Filipe Luis (39) said that the football elite remained in Europe after the Brazilian side was beaten 4-2 in a last 16 collision against Bayern Munich at the Club World Cup on Sunday.
Flamengo gave two goals in the first 10 minutes. And although they have reduced the overdue payments twice, Bayern always had control because they set up a quarter-final draw with Champions League winners Paris St Germain.
European teams were expected to dominate the extensive world cup of the club, but sometimes struggled in the group stage, while all Brazilian teams moved forward and impressed.
Bayern, however, recovered a measure of what the European football company would call “Order” prior to the collision of Inter Milan with the Brazilian Fluminense, also in the last 16. Palmeiras progressed by fellow Brazilian side Botafogo on Saturday.
“The pressure they put on you is huge,” said Flamengo head coach Luis Filipe. “They stand up with eight, 10 players. They deserved to win.”
“Our plan worked, and we were able to put pressure and create goals, but they were better than we do. We play against the football elite. If Vinicius Jr. had not left for Real Madrid, we would have the best player in the world.”
“They (South -American players) want to be in the elite, and that is what they are. If we have won today and the tournament, it would not change the reality – they are high -quality teams. We have many Brazilian players in our teams, but they (the European teams) have the best. They have better players, that is a fact.”
As a question of whether European clubs have the lead in the last third part, Bayern Munich -coach Vincent Kompany stated thanks to their efficiency: “In every competition it is the quality of the players, but also in the conviction. I am not sure if that is so black or white, and some of the best finishers in the world in the South -America are in the world.”
“Do you know how many large tactics have come from South America?” Early Kompany rhetorically with regard to the alleged tactical superiority of European teams. “Bielsa, Luis Filipe, especially.”
