Luis de la Fuente closes door on Spain call-up for Real Madrid star

It is well documented that Real Madrid has lost a sense of Spanish identity in the first team team in the last 12 months, which also meant that they had not called on players for the luminures of La Roja earlier in the season. Nacho Fernandez and Joselu Mato were two players involved in the national team, but they both left last summer to pursue new adventures in Saudi -Arabia and Qatar respectively.

Kepa Arrizabalaga also left, and that left Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, Fran Garcia and Dani Ceballos as the only Spaniards in the real Madrid first team. Since then, however, they have been accompanied by Raul Asencio, who has been a revelation since his debut in November.

Since then, Asencio has used injuries to Eer Militao and David Alaba to settle as a regular starter, and he impressed Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Manchester City on Tuesday. Given this, it is no surprise that he has been associated with a possible call-up to the Spanish national team for next month's quarter-final band UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands.

The Spain -head coach Luis de la Fuente, however, has deposited cold water on the chances that Asencio is involved in those competitions, according to the sport.

“It is very difficult to get to the national team. There are very good players in all Spanish teams. He is a very good player and he now plays continuity, which we need. '

Spain is certainly a shame of wealth in the center of defense, with people like Aymeric Laporte, Robin Le Normand, Pau Cubarsi, Dani Vivian and Pau Torres who are all for Asencio, who are expected to sign up a new contract with Real Madrid In the coming weeks. So much, the breakout star may have to settle for a place in the U21 team of Santi Denia.
