Spain boss Luis de la Fuente gave a strong response to questions about his use of Barcelona duo Pedri and Dani Olmo.
La Roja wrap up their 2024/25 UEFA Nations League campaign with a match against Switzerland at Pedri's home ground of Tenerife.
De la Fuente's attackers already have a place in the Nations League quarter-finals for March, but he wants to end 2024 with a win in Santa Cruz.
Before the match, De la Fuente was asked about his apparent reluctance to start the Barcelona pair in the same starting XI, without a joint start under his leadership.
Injuries have played a key role in the lack of game time together, with Olmo given a bigger role at UEFA Euro 2024 following Pedri's injury, but De la Fuente appears to favor one or the other in his starting XI.
Olmo started last week's 2-1 win in Denmark with Pedri coming off the bench, but De la Fuente hinted he is ready to start them together.
“It's very easy to combine them. I'm not obsessed with these issues. Likewise, they can play with Fabian Ruiz, Mikel Merino, Mikel Oyarzabal.
“We have good players and so many options that sometimes we have to play with one formation and other times with another. They can play together, but also with other teammates. It is not a debate.”
