Earlier this week, Joan Garcia completed a move to Barcelona. He must be the starting goalkeeper for Hansi film, and as such is expected to increase his chances of a long-awaited Spain call-up.
Garcia was one of the best keepers in La Liga last season, but that was not enough for him to be admitted to a senior Spain team for the first time. However, he will soon be called up, as confirmed by La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente during an interview with Marca.
“He is a great keeper. I took him to the U21s. Of course he will come (to the Spain team). We will see when the season starts what his situation is.
“But be careful, the best keepers in the world are Spanish and are in the national team. I say it very clearly: they are the best and we are very happy with them. And of course Joan will come to the national team if we think it is handy.”
Another player who wants to sign Barcelona this summer is Nico Williams, on whom De la Fuente also spoke.
“He is a genius. We will see what is happening, it's football stuff. But Nico is another player who will make history and become a legend. It is a pride to have such young and good players. They also give us a lot of joy and I wish them all the happiness personally and professionally.”
And both players can be both club and international teammates from Lamine Yamal, who is another where De La Fuente is a big fan.
“He certainly grows at an impressive level. I repeat: he will be a legend. But he must undoubtedly improve in some aspects. We have to take care of him, but he is growing a lot and he should be clear that his teammates of the national team and the club will help him to become a legend. He is a sensitive man.”
