Liverpool does not want to sell the Colombian winger Luis Diaz, despite interest from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich
Luis Diaz insists that he is “very happy” in Liverpool despite constant discussions about his future of Anfield. The Colombia International is a transfer target for both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who have already returned initial approaches by the Reds in recent weeks.
Diaz is now preparing to return for pre -season training on Merseyside, but he has admitted that there are constant “negotiations” -although it seems that he is referring to conversations with other clubs, in contrast to his Liverpool contract.
He told the Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez: “We are there, negotiating. We will see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We will try to do our best and make the best decision.”
When he interviewed for interest that was also linked to the Saudi side Al-Nassr, Diaz added: “We are negotiating, talking to the club, with Liverpool, with everyone approaching us. But I am very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Try to make the best decision now.”
Diaz was in his home country, while most of his teammates in Liverpool attended the funeral of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva in Portugal, last weekend.
The Premier League champions have already made it clear that they do not want to sell Diaz this summer, but a new contract is currently not on the agenda for the 28-year-old. He has two years left to walk his current deal that ends in the summer of 2027.
Diaz also paid tribute to Jota, who previously held his sweater up in October 2023 after scoring a goal while the search for his abducted father continued.
The Liverpool winger said about his deceased colleague: “It is very difficult to receive this kind of news. Nobody was prepared for this, he was an important companion when I arrived in Liverpool because his family welcomed me and we formed a great friendship. We had a healthy rivalry and it was important.”
Barcelona still looks at Diaz as one of their top transfer priorities, while Bayern has also held a daring approach for his services.
The Bundesliga champions are now insisting on attacking reinforcements after Jamal Musiala had a broken fibula and only dislocation in the 2-0 club World Cup Quarterfinal defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
Diaz was a prominent figure under Arne Slot last season, scored 17 goals and registered eight assists in all competitions.
The former Porto Forward was used as both a left wing player and a center-forward and he remains a solid part of the Dutchman's plans on the way to the 2025-26 campaign.
