Luis Enrique refused to criticize referee Francois Letexier for not sending off Monaco defender Wilfried Singo on Wednesday after a dangerous challenge left Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with his face cut open.
PSG came back from 2-1 down to win 4-2 in Monaco, but they had to replace Donnarumma in the 22nd minute after Singo's hard challenge left some nasty gashes on the goalkeeper's face.
Singo had been shown a yellow card a few minutes earlier, but French media reported that the referee deemed the contact as incidental and not intentional and allowed him to remain on the pitch. However, Donnarumma was unable to continue after treatment, while reserve goalkeeper Matvey Safonov started in his place.
“The decisions of the referees? I can't do anything, I couldn't see the action, but when you see an action like that it's always difficult,” Luis Enrique told Bein Sports.
“It is not the intention of the players to cause pain. It is difficult to referee these types of matches, I am not talking about the refereeing work.”

After the match, PSG confirmed Donnarumma would undergo medical tests on Thursday, leaving him in doubt for their Coupé de France match against Lens on Sunday.
Despite trailing 2-1 in the second half, PSG came back with a goal from Goncalo Ramos and a brace from Ousmane Dembele to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 16 games this season.
PSG come into the Christmas holidays top of the table with 40 points, 10 points ahead of nearest rivals Marseille and Monaco.
“The goal was achieved. It was a difficult match, we were not always at the level, they knew how to come back and take the lead, but I am happy with the result,” added Luis Enrique.
