Luis Enrique greeted the mentality that was demonstrated by his players from his Saint-Germain players of Paris during their 7-0 win over Brest on Wednesday.
PSG closed a thunderous 10-0 aggregated victory over their countrymen, while they sealed their place in the Champions League the last 16 for a 13th consecutive season.
It was the second largest total victory in a knockout of Champions League, after the 12-1 Rout of Bayern Munich of Sporty CP in the 2008-09 season.
PSG also became the first team in the history of the competition with seven different scorers in one competition.
Already 3-0 from the first stage, Luis Enrique was satisfied with the way in which his players did not allow themselves to be carried away with their favorable position.
“Having seven different goal scorers is a reflection of our team and the mentality of the players,” he said reporters.
“Today they almost all scored because when they reached the last meters and there was a better placed player, they passed the ball.
“If they had been selfish, we would have scored fewer goals. I think it's great, it's the best way to go to the next round. I congratulate all my players with their mentality.
“We were very good from the start, competitions that are so favorable from the start can be a fall. We have not relaxed. We have always played, with respect for one of the best teams in France.”
The next for PSG will be one of the two best teams in the competition phase in Liverpool or Barcelona.
Although they have missed the automatic qualification for the last 16, Luis Enrique believes that the extra round will look better.
“This was unfair for us. We should have been one of the first places,” he added. “We have taken the long way, and that made us better and prepared us for what is to come.
“I don't think rivals are more difficult than those we have already confronted.”
