PSG Baas Luis Enrique has argued for supporters to be respectful when his side welcomes Marseille in the Parc des Princes on Sunday, in the midst of fearing that the iconic Le Classique arms can be suspended if homophobic singing takes place.
The collisions of PSG and Marseille are usually heated things between the two title rivals and that will be no different this weekend, despite the men of Roberto de Zerbi 16 points behind their rivals.
There have been enormous controversies in the stands in this fixture, with road supporters were not allowed to attend competitions since 2015 -and PSG fans came under fire due to alleged chants of Homophobic abuse in Marseille in their 3-0 win over their rivals in October.
RMC Sport has reported that there will be an increased presence of law enforcement officers in the game, in which officials are preparing to suspend the game if homophobic songs are heard on this occasion.
Enrique insisted on the home support not to get involved in mean singing and said that they should concentrate on supporting PSG and are not concerned with the opposition.
“I only played three classiques, only one at home,” he said. “We know that it will be a special match for everyone, for the players, but especially for our fans. My thinking is always the same: our fans are very important to us, we need their support in every competition, in every competition.
“We appreciate the way they never give up and encourage us all season. They have always been behind us and I would like to have that support until the end of the season.
“With this level of excitement, I think the fans should concentrate on our team in the first place, enjoy what we do, and respect the opponent. There is no better indifference than not devoting a single moment to the opponent and concentrating for our team. That is my opinion, that is what happens.”
Tension will also be added, because the former PSG star Adrien Rabiot is preparing to return to his boys' club with Rivals Marseille, after his exit from Juventus.
Rabiot came to Marseille in September and became an important player among the Zerbi, scored five goals and so far assisted one.
Marseille will be looking for a first defeat of the season on PSG, which have an excellent run of six consecutive victories and in this game come to a peak after their Champions League Last-16 victory over Liverpool.
