Luke Shaw ‘devastated’ by yet another injury setback
Manchester United and England defender Luke Shaw has said he is devastated after the latest in a long line of injuries.
Shaw made his first appearance of the season when he came off the bench in the 1–1 draw against Ipswich on 24 November, Ruben Amorim's first game in charge.
Since then, he came off the bench against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League last week and in the 4-0 home win over Everton on Sunday.
Now a new injury, believed to be unrelated to his original calf problem, will keep him out for a few weeks.

“It hurts a lot to have to write this as I truly thought I had gotten through my recent struggles and was on a positive path forward, but unfortunately I have suffered a minor setback,” Shaw wrote in an emotional statement on his Instagram account. .
“I've been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs, but this has definitely been my toughest period. I am absolutely devastated and it is extremely difficult to come to terms with the reality right now.
“I understand there is gunna [sic] people can be frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no one who feels that more than me right now.
“But what I can promise is that I will do everything I can to bounce back quickly and help this club achieve its ambitions this season. I would like to thank everyone for the support. It really does not go unnoticed and I appreciate it enormous.” “
Prior to his Ipswich appearance, Shaw had not played since England's 2-1 defeat in the Euro 2024 final.
That was his only start of the tournament, while his last start for Manchester United was a 2-1 win away to Luton in February.
