Luton 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur: Thomas Frank’s Spurs second best in goalless draw vs League One outfit

Tottenham Hotspur showed that there was more work to do on the training field for the season for Thomas Frank as a strong but incomplete Spurs side, the second best against League One Luton was in their goalless draw.

This was the last of two friendly games on Saturday – with another Spurs XI with 2-2 with Wycombe on the training field in the morning.

This Spurs side, including a new £ 55 million summer signing of Mohammed Kudus Plus Stamgasten Micky van de Ven, Brennan Johnson, Mathys Tel, Yves Bissouma and Guglielmo Vicario, struggled against the sharper and fitter Luton -outfit, who starts their competition on Friday.

Spurs only had two shots in the entire game -a forgotten Kudus effort that was blocked before Johnson's Close -Range effort was kept well by Josh Keeley, who moved from the Premier League club to Luton last week.

And Luton had the better chances, because Vicario had to keep out the efforts of Millenic Alli from a tight corner, with Shandon Baptiste a good chance from the resulting corner.

Replacement goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who came for the Italian during the break, kept two target -bound efforts from Alli and Nakhi Wells out in the second period, while Spurs struggled to keep track of the game and fashion opportunities themselves.

With a little more than ten minutes to go, Frank took out his senior stars for a series of young people, with replacement Will Lankshear who widened a good effort when the clock tapped in 90. But Frank will not have learned much of these senior stars based on this version.

More to follow.
