Olympique Lyonnais has made a surprise approach for Thomas Lemar from Atlético Madrid, according to a report by Sacha Tavolieri. The 28-year-old French International has fallen entirely from the plans of Diego Simeone and has not been visible to Los Colchoneros since September 2023, due to both injuries and form.
Lemar, under contract with Atlético until 2027, has been made available for transfer, and OL has for the time being investigated a loan agreement to bring it back to Ligue 1 this summer. Sacha Tavolieri reports that the salary of Lemar – estimated above € 400,000 a month – goes much further than Lyon, even temporarily. The player has also expressed a preference to stay in Spain, where different La Liga clubs keep an eye on his situation, with a view to offering a regular playing time. Yet under the new President Michele Kang, OL must strictly adhere to an internal salary limit after the club has succeeded in retaining his status in Ligue 1 in Ligue 1 after initially banned to Ligue 2 by the DNCG.
