Mac Allister hoping to spend ‘a lot of years’ with Salah at Liverpool
Alexis Mac Allister has urged Liverpool to agree a deal with out-of-contract star Mohamed Salah, with whom he hopes to “share many years”.
Salah is one of the three most important players in the first team, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose current contracts expire at Anfield at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The Egyptian has made a flying start to the season for Arne Slot's team and has already registered 24 goals (13 goals, 11 assists) in 20 games in all competitions this season.
Salah scored from the penalty spot to set up Cody Gakpo's opener in the Reds' 2-0 win over reigning champions Manchester City.
He has now scored and assisted in a Premier League match for the 36th time, the most by any player in the competition's history, equaling Wayne Rooney's record (36).
Afterwards, Salah suggested Sunday's win could be his last home match against Pep Guardiola's side, with doubts over his future on Merseyside continuing to circulate.
And Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023, said he wants the out-of-contract trio to put pen to paper on new terms, just like Salah.
“I think this shows a little bit who Mo is, his mentality,” Mac Allister told ESPN Argentina, responding to Salah's statement.
“It is clear that we want to share many years with him [Salah]'but that's a personal decision,' said Mac Allister. 'The club has to make a decision and we cannot get involved.
“Hopefully they can come to an agreement because we want him and Virgil and Trent to stay with us. Hopefully that will be the case.”

Salah left Chelsea permanently in 2016, but has been a revelation since returning to the Premier League with Liverpool a year later.
In 369 games across all competitions, the Egyptian has scored 224 goals, while also providing 100 assists, winning eight major honors.
This season, Salah has taken his Premier League goals tally to 168, surpassing Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler (163) and taking him into eighth place on the all-time list.
“If you see him every day, he is someone who works very hard and is tireless,” Mac Allister added. “He's the first to arrive and the last to leave.
“[He is] always prepared for whatever comes. He transfers that to the field and he always helps us in decisive moments when big players get more difficult, he is there.”
With Newcastle next up for Liverpool, Salah will be confident of continuing his good start to the season against one of his favorite opponents in the top flight.
He has been involved in fourteen Premier League goals against Newcastle (eight goals, six assists), and these have featured in his last thirteen games against Newcastle.
Only against Manchester United (18) and Brighton (16) has Salah registered more goals in the Premier League than the Magpies.
