Maddison acknowledges supporters ‘don’t even want to hear what we’ve got to say’

The anger of Tottenham fans is justified, James Maddison admitted after their 1-0 loss in Chelsea.

Spurs fell on a 16th defeat in 30 Premier League matches – their most in a whole campaign since 2003-04 – and were in second place in the London Derby in Stamford Bridge.

The header of Enzo Fernandez was sufficient to secure the three points for Chelsea, with Moises Caicedo and Pape Matar Sarr both goals excluded after VAR checks.

Ange Postecoglou did not fold the fans full -time while supporters gave the players an earful.

They had the decision of Postecoglou to release Sarr and Brennan Johnson (for Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert), and the Spurs -Baas seemed to repent his ears to them when he thought the first had scored, although he later had it just wanted them to cheer.

“It hurts a lot. It was too often this season. Our fans are rightly disappointed. We are disappointed, “Maddison told Sky Sports.

'We just do best to look for the answers why we don't get the results in the tight games in the competition. This year we have lost so many games with one target margins.

'So I don't really want to talk out of nothing here. Our fans don't even want to hear what we have to say, right? So it's about being able to get better in the future.

'To be honest, they are rightly angry. I think it is still important that we show our appreciation for them, even if we don't get a nice reception, let's say it.

“So that's why I still walk there. I think they deserve that, although it is not easy to switch and be linked straight into your face.

“But as I said, they pay their money, they travel everywhere for us. And we are just as disappointed as they are, but we try to make up for it.

'It can still be a super special season if we lift silverware. We are in the quarterfinals. We are two games away from a European final. So it can still be a very special season.

“The message would be, stay with us. We need them as much as they need, you know. And again, they probably don't want to listen to me now after a new defeat in the competition. That's fine, but I have to come out, I have to answer your questions. So just try to stay together, I think. '
