Tottenham -midfielder James Maddison will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Maddison sustained the injury during the Europa League semi-final first-legs from last Thursday on Bodo/Glimt, after he had scored the second goal of Tottenham in the 3-1 win.
It is a second seasonal injury in a week before Spurs, who also lost midfielder Lucas Bergvall to an ankle injury that was picked up during the training.
The injuries of the duo are a huge blow to Spurs -Baas Ange Postecoglou prior to the second stage on Thursday in Norway, and a potential Europa League final later this month.
Speaking on the eve of Tottenham's game with Bodo/Glimt, Postecoglou confirmed that Maddison will no longer play this season.
“He is out, he will miss the rest of the season,” said Postecoglou.
“It is more disappointing for him than anything, because he has been a large catalyst for us. But it was a constant of our season about these things.”
Postecoglou initially unveiled after Sunday's 1-1 draw in West Ham that the injury of Maddison seemed to be more serious than the first thought.
The Australian said at his press conference after the game: “It doesn't look great, but we just wait for more information, so we'll just wait. We'll probably get some clarity tomorrow [on Monday].
“It is honest to say that it doesn't look promising, but I will just wait.”
Solanke must be suitable for Bodo/Glimt Second Been
However, there was more encouraging news from Postecoglou on striker Dominic Solanke after the Premier League -similar play on Sunday in West Ham.
The international of England drew in the first leg of last week on Bodo/Glimt and was omitted from the team for the 1-1 draw in the London Stadium.
But Postecoglou played the injury of the 27-year-old and expects him to perform in this week's second stage in Norway.
The Australian said at his press conference after the game: “Dom improves.
“We left him out today, but the medical team is pretty sure that he should be in order on Thursday.”
If Spurs passes the Norwegian champions on Thursday, a potential all-English final against Manchester United awaits them in Bilbao on May 21.
It would give the side of Postecoglou the opportunity to end their 17-year-old trophy-dried trophy and to be eligible for the Champions League of next season.
