Magomed Ankalaev just went five rounds with Alex Pereira, and says he would be willing to do it all over again.
Newly crowned light-heavyweight champion Ankalaev was willing to stand and act with Pereira while he claimed the belt in the main event of UFC 313 last night. After the Brazilian had systematically eliminated all contenders in the past year, it is still to be seen who is the next best challenger.
As such, Ankalaev is willing to go again with 'Patan' and to tell the media that he would actually like to have a rematch with the Brazilian.
Magomed Ankalaev agrees to give Alex Pereira Rematch after UFC 313
After last night's fight, Dana White seemed to indicate that the following way of acting was to restore Pereira and Ankalaev in the Octagon for the first defending defense of the Russian. 'Patan' has already beaten the majority of the top ten, while no one has made a convincing business for number one competition.
With Agfight spoken last night in an interview after the fight, Magomed Ankalaev noted that he would agree to rematch Alex Pereira immediately. “We will wait for the call from the UFC bosses,” he explained. “Will it be a rematch? No problem.
“Without any hesitation [I would take that fight]… as long as I am an active hunter, I want to become a champion and I believe I will retire with that belt. I don't believe someone will take it from me.
“If there is no injury, I could easily do three-four battles a year … I don't know we should see and think because I don't see anyone at the moment who can challenge me, we have actually cleaned up the division.”
Alex Pereira promises 'adjustments' while insisting on immediate UFC 313 Rematch
While last night's fight came on just one round on two score cards, Pereira has insisted that he understands that adjustments must be made next time. He issued a video statement about Instagram to let fans know his thoughts about the defeat.
“That is everyone, some points, but I'm good, I'm going to rest a bit, I'm coming back as I have always done,” he started explaining in a video on his social media. “This has happened before, but I'm good. I am grateful for all your support, for all your love and always support me.
“I am here with my people, my family and my team … Everyone is here with me, is going to have some pizza, that is, life goes on … I'm going to make some adjustments for the Rematch and I am much better back, you can count on it … Chama!”
