Magomed Ankalaev is a pious Muslim, who usually follows Ramadan to the letter. During this period, from sunrise to sunset, he abstains from food and drink for a period of 30 days.

In an interview with AG. Vecht, Ankalaev explained: “I quickly followed it strictly, except this week, where I have to break it a few times because I have to ensure that I drink water to have a successful weight.
“But apart from that I started with Ramadan. I'm fasting. And after the fight I will of course also follow the rules of religion as it should be. '
