Injury update: Barcelona star stretchered off after coughing up blood on pitch

Barcelona fans had focused their anger on former youth talent Sandro Ramirez after his attempt to block Alejandro Balde flattened the young left-back. However, that quickly turned to concern for Balde, who was struggling to get back on his feet.

The 21-year-old lay on the ground as play continued holding his neck, which had received Sandro's contact, and apparently struggling to breathe. It appeared that Balde was simply out of breath at first, but when he tried to get back up with the help of Barcelona's medical staff, he fell back to the ground, apparently feeling nauseous.

Balde was then seen coughing up blood on the field, and was taken away by the cart shortly afterwards when it became clear that he was not doing well. When the cart left the field, Balde was still seen coughing violently.
