The Citizens were defeated 2-0 by Juventus in the group stage of the Champions League.
They are now adrift of the top eight positions and will have to work to stay in the top 24 to qualify for the play-offs.
“Of course it's tough. Apart from one or two games in this period that were not good, we played quite evenly, and I give the credit to Juventus,” Guardiola told reporters as his team prepared for a crucial Manchester derby in the Premier League next weekend.
“Tonight I don't think there were many defensive mistakes. That wasn't the reason (we lost), other games were, but not today.
“We missed that last pass when we got to the six-yard box. That was the difference today, but I love my team.
“I love my team the way we play and the result will not convince me otherwise.
“Congratulations on the way they defended, they did that in transitions. But we were incredibly aggressive in our high pressure.
“We won the long balls and the back four were really good. Of course it was a cross and Vlahovic is strong in that position.
“But I'm very pleased with the way we played.”
