Man City decide on £85m Kevin De Bruyne replacement with overhaul to continue

Manchester City has set their sights on the Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen while wanting to sign a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne has endured a difficult campaign and are in and out of the city team while enduring a miserable season. The Belgian contract is at the end of this season and he will be 34 in June.

His future remains in the air, although it seems that boss Pep Guardiola is looking for replacements. The ruling Premier League champions have invested heavily in the January transfer star.

But Guardiola will get the green light to make more movements with large money in the summer. And Wirtz came forward as his top goal, in which the 21-year-old played in the Bundesliga.

According to the Daily Mail, Wirtz has been identified as a target by City Chiefs. Wirtz played the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal Double as Leverkusen last season, after following that by registering this period so far 27 goals and assists.

The 21-year-old has long been on the radar of the city and it is claimed that the club will now sue their interest. The German is appreciated at more than £ 85 million, with Leverkusen wants to bind him to a new deal.

Wirtz has left for two more years to walk his current contract, with various top clubs that chase him. City is aware that they have to plan life after the buyne and hope that Wirtz could form a partnership with Phil Foden.

City has one of the oldest squadrons in the Premier League and would like to drive the average age of the group. However, it seems that they have a fight to sign Wirtz, with Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro who mentions his wish to hold the attacking midfielder.

“Very high and why wouldn't they be high?” Carro said in November when he was asked about his hope that Wirtz will stay. “As long as he has a contract here, as long as he feels comfortable here.

“As long as he knows that he can play top football here and have a top team and can celebrate successes, then he is happy. What I can certainly deny – one hundred percent – is that there are guarantees or similarities I have heard in the media.

“The thoughts of all players, coaches, coaching staff and management of the club are in the here and now. We have plenty to do on the field until the end of the year. It often annoys me that there is such speculation.

“I can admit that. But the here and now is important, nobody is currently interested in next season and nothing has been completed.”
