Premier League clubs have already doubled their spending compared to last January – and there is still a week to go before the transfer window ends.
A year ago, spending across the league was £116 million – more than £600 million less than in 2023 – as clubs became wary of breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
However, a year on, the current period total has risen to more than £234 million, with the most decisive period still to come as Premier League teams look for mid-season reinforcements before Deadline Day on February 3.
In what is likely to be a dramatic final week of the term, Sky Sports News' flagship program The Transfer Show will be broadcast from the Sky Store at London's Battersea Power Station from Monday 27 January to Friday 31 January at 5pm to 5.30pm . 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
It's the first time in the history of Sky Sports News that we've broadcast to a live audience, with presenter Mike Wedderburn joined by Kaveh Solhekol and Dharmesh Sheth and other reporters throughout the week.
The biggest spenders to date
They will have plenty to discuss as clubs continue to invest.
Manchester City is the biggest spender so far. It spent more than all Premier League clubs combined last winter, spending £126.1 million on new recruits.
The champions have signed Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for £63.2 million, Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £29.4 million, and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £33.5 million.
And City could add further signings, with interest in Andrea Cambiaso and Douglas Luiz, both from Juventus, as well as Real Valladolid's teenage centre-back Juma Bah.
As we approach the final week of the window, there are plenty of other clubs also looking to do business, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.
The Gunners are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements and have had internal discussions about a possible move for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, while Wolves' Matheus Cunha is also of interest.
Chelsea are considering a move to sign Alejandro Garnacho, while Manchester United are looking to raise money to invest in Ruben Amorim's squad, with Lecce's Patrick Dorgu targeted, and possibly Christopher Nkunku.
Meanwhile, West Ham are in talks to sign striker Andre Silva from RB Leipzig after Aston Villa rejected a big bid for Jhon Duran.
