Man City make Kevin De Bruyne decision as Premier League star deliberates over his future in England

Manchester City will allow Kevin De Bruyne to determine his own future, since the veteran has entered his contract for the last five months.

De Bruyne, the most decorated player in the history of the city, had a serious interest from Saudi Arabia last season, but chose to stay on the Pep Guardiola side.

After showing this period 23 times so far, the Belgian is understood as open for his stay at the Etihad Stadium after a decade.

De Bruyne – who earns £ 385,000 a week after negotiating his own contract without an agent in 2021 – is established with a young family in the northwest and continues to enjoy working under Guardiola.

MLS clubs, including San Diego, have monitored his situation and the 33-year-old has publicly urged him to be relaxed about the situation.

Although formal conversations about an extension between the two parties have to take place, City are happy that De Bruyne is taking his time to determine the following steps and not to bring him into a strong decision.

The central midfielder has shown insight into his changing role in the city team and has permanently taken the bracelet of the captain after the move from Kyle Walker to AC Milan.

Guardiola called him on the couch for Saturday's victory before he then re -introduced him to the starting XI for the nervous Champions League victory against Clubbrugge.

After injury problems have plagued the Treble season and the historic fourth consecutive league title of last year, there is an acceptance that De Bruyne saver must be used if he wants to produce his best at the big moments.

In the meantime, City Rodri will register as part of their 25-man Champions League team for the knockout phase despite a double knee injury that has kept it outside since September.

Rodri was mentioned in the schedule earlier in the season and will keep his place in the potential opportunity of his recovery that progresses quickly and the city goes deep into the competition.

They will discover on Friday whether Real Madrid or Bayern Munich are their opponents in the Playoff round, which starts on 11 February.

City can make three changes to their team and will include new signing Omar Marmoush, which has arrived from Frankfurt.

Defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vorror Reis also signed, with City also looking for a central midfielder before the transfer window closes on Monday.
