Manchester City could see a number of outputs this summer, while Pep Guardiola tries to bring his side back to the top and a midfielder does not go to the club World Cup
Manchester City star James McATee is mentioned in the team of England for the European championships under 21 years old as speculation will continue. The 22-year-old ACE has chosen to play in the international tournament about traveling to the United States to play in the club World Cup.
However, the midfielder, who started three Premier League matches for City in 2024/25, would have received the option of which competition they should participate. However, earlier reports indicated that McATee would be beaten from the Squadron of the city for the journey over the Atlantic Ocean.
The young star, who previously spent two seasons in loan at Sheffield United, has only been transferred to his contract at the Etihad Stadium for a year and brings his future into focus. And the decision to see him play this month and Captain England seems to tell.
City has already concluded a deal with AC Milan for Tijjani Reijnders and wants a move for Lyon and France Rayan Cherki on time for the World Cup Club. Such movements seem to push McATee further into the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
And there would be no shortage of lovers if he is officially on the market. Mcatee attracted the interest of the Bundesliga in January and those clubs could still be lurking.
Bayer Leverkusen, Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, Red Bull Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have all shown interest, by reports. Meanwhile, Manchester United leads a large number of Premier League clubs that have asked to stay informed of the situation of Mcatee.
West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Wolves, Everton, Leeds United, Fulham and Spurs are all interested in the City Academy star. AC Milan also admires the Three Lions Youth International.
McATEEE is not only in missing the club World Cup, where Jack Grealish is not traveling to the US either. The former Aston Villa star will be made available in an advanced deal.
Unlike Grealish, Guardiola has made it clear that he would like to retain the services of McATee. He said in April: “Before age I would like him to stay. I understand, the players want more minutes that I understand.
“I would like him to stay, he is an Academy player, he knows the patterns, he is a nice person, a sweet guy. He trains really well, plays in different positions. I like him, but with the team it's how we are ready and we will see.”
