Manchester City won the battle to sign the Norwegian Wonderkid Sverre Nypan, despite interest from Arsenal, and he spends the new season on loan in the second layer
The Midfielder of Manchester City Sverre Nypan will leave the Etihad Stadium on loan, only a few weeks after City Arsenal defeated his signing. The former youngster of Rosenborg was watched by a number of clubs in England and afterwards, but the Outfit Middlesbrough Championship has won the race.
Arsenal worked hard to bring Nypan to North Londs, with the presence of Noway Captain Martin Odegaard believed by some to give them the upper hand. Aston Villa also insisted on the 18-year-old midfielder, but in the end it was City who took a deal for a reported £ 12.5 million.
With the side of Pep Guardiola that the colleague -central plant midfielder Tijjani Reijners adds early in the summer, the plan was always that NYPAN spends on loan this season. A move to Girona was an option in which the members of the Stadswoetbalgroep had borrowed the will of Yan Couto and Yangel Herrera from Etihad in the past years of Etihad, but instead the young person stays in England.
“Girona is a huge club and can be a very, very good solution because they are part of the city structure,” Nypan's father Arne told Norwegian Outlet Nettavissen in July. “At the same time, there are seven or eight clubs that have registered and are very enthusiastic.”
According to reports, NYPAN will be accompanied in the Riverside Stadium by Adilson Malanda. The French defender Malanda is about to join the city from the Major League football side Charlotte FC and immediately goes on loan.
“Sverre is an exciting young player who has been watching the club for a long time,” said City's director of Football Hugo Viana when Nypan moved to the club. The teenager has joined countrymen Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb in Manchester, and a strong season on Tesside was able to fight him for a first senior Norway hood.
“We believe that he already has many striking qualities, but that he will continue to improve alone at only 18 years old,” Viana added. “We believe that he will be an important asset to Manchester City in the coming years and we will support him every step of the road in his development.”
NYPAN was the fifth senior signing made by Boro this summer, after Alfie Jones, Callum Brittain, Abdoulaye Kante and Sontje Hansen to the Riverside Stadium. Former Hull midfielder Jones scored his first goal for the club in the weekend when Rob Edwards's side achieved a 3-0 win in Millwall to climb to the second in the champion table.
“It was a good start. Two clean sheets and we looked very solid about these two games,” Manager Edwards told BBC Radio Tees after the victory. “We want consistency, and we will continue to try to do the right things. I like where we are, but are this a long, difficult season.”
