The defender of Manchester City Nathan Ake is set for a new long spell on the sidelines after having broken his foot.
Ake has only made 18 performances in all competitions during an injury hit campaign, started 14 times and plays a total of 1,133 minutes.
Six other defenders have played more minutes this season for City – Josko Gvardiol (3,252), Rico Lewis (2,671), Manuel Akanji (2,490), Ruben Dias (1954), Kyle Walker (1,159 before he is at AC Milan on loan) and John Stones (1.134).
Nederlands International was withdrawn during the rest during the 3-1 FA Cup victory of the city on Plymouth Argyle on Saturday after burden of discomfort in his left foot.
Ake underwent an operation on Monday and neither he nor his club offered a timetable for his recovery.
“This has been such a frustrating season for me, but I have now had a successful operation on a break in my foot, which has bothered me for months,” Ake wrote on Instagram.
“I am positively looking for the future. Rest and recovery now, goodbye to city and thanks for your support.”
The city was also without stones and Akanji because of injuries the last time, and neither is expected to return for a few weeks.
