Man United 3-0 Brighton: Marc Skinner’s side rise to second in WSL

Manchester United moved into second place in the Women's Super League table with a thrilling 3-0 win over Brighton as their positive start continues into 2025.

Marc Skinner's side thumped rivals Manchester City in the Derby last weekend before producing another dominant display to see off the Seagulls, who failed to register a single shot on target.

Ella Toone extended her scoring exploits with another goal to add to the two she scored against City, collecting Elisabeth Terland by ball in her stride and sweeping beyond Sophie Baggaley in the opening two minutes.

Skinner has had to fend off criticism of his side's over-cautious approach this season – United maintain the nastiest defense in the league – but they are also improving at the top end, scoring 14 in all games since the turn.

Hinata Miyazawa aimed a second with her left foot nine minutes after Tone's opener, while Celin Bizet added a stylish third midway through the second half as Nutmeging defeated Maisie Symonds and Baggaley from range.
