Manchester United has pushed Patrick Dorgu's Medical back with the club – only a few days before Transfer Deadline Day.
Ruben Amorim is desperately looking for players who match his 3-4-3 system and United believe that the £ 33 million Rated Lecce Wing-back fits the bill.
United and Lecce had positive conversations about a £ 30 million relocation including add-ons earlier this week, as revealed by Mail Sport.
But now a sense of danger has been injected in the day because of the medical delay and the 20-year-old is only expected to fly to England this weekend.
It was pushed back because the relevant documentation and contracts were not completed on time for the original test.
The transfer window closes at 11 p.m. on Monday 3 February, which means that United cannot afford that there are too many hold-ups.
Nevertheless, Dorgu is on the edge to become Amorim's first signing since he has adopted the track in Novemebr.
Amorim admitted that income would be difficult to get off the window and said, “It is not the case that I don't come here and I can spend a lot of money, all the team change.”
United initially offered £ 16.8 million plus £ 4.2 million in add-ons, but that was rejected by a Lecce side that was cautious to sell all the time.
Mail Sport understands that Lecce initially wanted £ 33 million for the full-back.
Dorgu's contract with the Serie A side runs until 2029 and club president Saverio Sticchi Damiani claimed that his team would 'move' the saleswoman if they can. Lecce is in the Serie A relegation zone.
United initially focused on Nuno Mendes in Paris Saint-Germain, but that was always a difficult deal because of the costs. Milos Kerkez van Bournemouth was another in consideration, but would again not be sold cheaply.
Dorgu will be a good utility option. He is 6ft 2 in a long time, has four caps for Denmark and can also play as a winger.
He started in his youth career at Side Husum Boldklub in Copenhagen before moving to the youth academy of Nordsjaelland.
In 2022 he signed for Lecce and a year later he was promoted to the senior team and made his debut in August 2023 in the Coppa Italia.
Since then he has been established himself as a regular team.
He started this season except one of the League matches of Lecce, with the one he missed because he was due to a red card.
Denmark International Dorgu started this season 21 Van Lecce's 22 Serie A matches, including Sunday's 4-0 defeat at Inter Milan.
