Man United suffer more humiliation with loss in Malaysian post-season friendly

The gloomy season of Manchester United suffered a new shame because they were beaten 1-0 on Wednesday by a Southeast Asian XI in Smuala Lumpur for a crowd of 72,550.

Ruben Amorim's Kant, who finished 15th in the Premier League for their worst season since 1974, saw listless and devoid of ideas in the heat.

Some fans in Bukit Jalil National Stadium left before the end and called a few angry at the last whistle.

In their first of two games after the season in Asia, United started with various regulars, including Harry Maguire, Rasmiro Hojlund, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and Andre Onana.

At temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) at the kick-off, it was the Asean-all stars that looked more threatening.

Filipino defender Amani Aguinaldo shot a shot just in the 16th minute.

Onana was called in action halfway through the first half with a low salvation that made him loved by the largely united crowd.

Mainoo caused the first real threat for Manchester UTD with an attempt of 25 meters that was twisted behind a corner before the young midfielder saw his shot disappear from the line in the 38th minute.

Captain Bruno Fernandes came up in the second half and his half volley pulled a loud cheers after a boring restart.

The Southeast Asian side surprised the men of Amorim by a brilliant counterattack in the 71st minute.

Burmese attacker Maung Maung Lwin was clean on Doel and the 29-year-old shot in the upper corner past Tom Heaton.

The home team could have had a second soon after, but Heaton came to the rescue to prevent further shame.

United is now going to Hong Kong for a friendship on Friday.
