Rasmus Hojlund could leave Manchester United this summer, but a potential move to Fulham had a blow after an £ 40 million deal for Rodrigo Muniz to join Atalanta
Italian giant Atalanta closes a deal for Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic after a £ 40 million deal before Rodrigo Muniz fell on. Fulham has been determined by saying that they have to bring in a replacement before Muniz has to leave and the conversations have now collapsed.
The news comes as a blow to Manchester United, because Fulham is considering a movement for extraordinary striker Rasmus Hojlund as a potential replacement for Muniz. Hojlund can leave Old Trafford after the Red Devils spent £ 200 million on a new forward line this summer of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Hojlund was left outside the team on Sunday for the opening game of the season against Arsenal, where Cunha started in the front and Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee made the bank. When he was asked about Hojlund's absence, Ruben Amorim said: “It will be so during the season.
“We have more options, we have to choose the right players for every game. Sometimes it doesn't just think of 11 boys who start the game and imagine how we will complete the game and win the game.
“They are in moments of a few training sessions for Josh and with Sesko he changed his life in a week. We tried to choose the best team to start and then, during the game, we will see.”
AC Milan, however, wants to sign a new striker this summer and sports director Igli Tare has confirmed that the club is interested in Hojlund. Tare spoke with Sport Mediaset: “Hojlund is a good option for us.
“We are evaluating him nowadays, but the transfer market is unpredictable. We know that we have to intervene in that position and we also know that they have to be players who can give something more to this group.”
Hojlund came to United from Atalanta in 2023 for a reimbursement of around £ 72 million, but he has difficulty having a lot of impact after managing only 26 goals in 95 performances in all competitions.
However, when earlier this summer was asked for his future, Hojlund said: “I think the most important thing for me is to keep working hard and stay focused and then we will of course see what is happening.
“I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my place, whatever happens. I am still very young. I think people sometimes forget. I am only 22. Of course, not every striker at the age of 22 scores 100 goals (like Erling Haaland).
“But I learned a lot, I think you can see in my game. I am starting to develop and get even better in the base. Now it is almost for me to grind myself and I have done it very well in the preseason so far. Just concentrate on continuing that.
“The competition is fine for me. It sharpened me. I am more than ready. I feel sharp, so I welcome everything that comes. I think it is good with the competition and it just sharpenes the team.”
