Ramsdale is also praised by clubs abroad. But Sunsport understands that his preference is to stay in England and in the Premier League and to play a place in the English team.

Sunday's performance from Stand-in Bayindir was the last thing United manager Ruben Amorim needed.

After he had taken goalkeeper Onana from the shooting line for Sunday's trip to Newcastle, the Portuguese looked at Forlorn while replacement Altay Bayindir gave four goals in a chastice defeat in St James' park.

To make matters worse, the Turkey International was to blame for the fourth of Newcastle after a bad pass.

“We have made many mistakes that made it harder to win a game – that's all,” said Amorim. “It's a bit of everything, it's hard to point out one thing.”

With a crucial Europa League quarter final second stage to follow Lyon on Thursday, United wants to quickly in the northeast behind them.

But Amorim is now confronted with a potentially seasonal decision to remember Onana or to stay with Bayindir.
