Man Utd face fresh striker transfer nightmare as club chief confirms interest

Manchester United's search for Randal Kolo Muani has become even more difficult as the search for a striker continues.

The Red Devils are desperate for attacking recruits to add to their squad in January amid ongoing goalscoring problems. PSG star Kolo Muani has emerged as a potential option for United after failing to earn chances in the French capital this season.

But a deal for his signature could be tricky. Premier League rivals Aston Villa have emerged as contenders for the Frenchman amid a potential swap deal for Jhon Duran.

And there could now be even more competition for the Juventus striker. Italian club director Cristiano Giuntoli has expressed their reported interest and admitted their admiration, but has remained tight-lipped about any move.

“The strategy is to strengthen the team in defense and look around for opportunities in other parts of the team,” Giuntoli told DAZN. “We have to respect many different parameters, both economic and technical, and it is difficult to get great players in January, so we have to be patient.”

When asked specifically about Kolo Muani and another reported target, Ronald Araujo, he replied: “These are two good players but the transfer window is only just opening and we hope to get some positive news in the coming week.

“Juve is always in the spotlight and every month feels decisive. We are aware that we started from scratch with a young team and that we are on a positive economic path, but we trust that we can be competitive soon,” he added.

Kolo Muani switched from German Eintracht Frankfurt to PSG in the summer of 2023. The French giants spent £67 million on his signature, but he has since scored just 11 goals in 54 games in all competitions.

Ironically, Juventus have also been linked with a United star as they look to add new faces to their attack. Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly being considered after a difficult first half of the season at Old Trafford.

He scored just four goals this season after an expensive transfer from Bologna. Despite suggestions he could leave, boss Amorim has confirmed his desire to keep the Dutchman at the club.

After last week's draw against Liverpool he said: “I want to keep Josh because he is giving everything and he is trying in training but we don't know.

“The window is open and we will see what happens. We just have to concentrate on training and take this into the other games. It's just one point, so let's focus on performance for the next games.”
