Viktor Gyokeres will play in Old Trafford on Sunday – and many expected it to be his permanent home this summer.
Since Ruben Amorim's appointment was confirmed in Manchester United in the fall, the Swede was connected to the Red Devils.
And that was only warmed when the Portuguese boss struggled to get goals from his team during the last months of last season.
Amorim's admiration for his former sporting Lisbon striker has always been clear – but the interest of United in him has never really got off the ground.
Word came back early that Gyokeres had put his heart on a move to Arsenal this summer, so United switched their attention elsewhere.
Amorim insists that he is happy to have landed Benjamin Sesko – who, according to him, will be the most important attacker of the coming years.
The United boss has only had five working days to have a band with Sesko, who only played against the under-21s in a united shirt, so a start against the Gunners of Arteta is perhaps too big a question.
But with Rasmus Hojlund on loan to AC Milan and Mason Mount plays as a false No9 previous time – out – Sesko may have to be used immediately.
Opponents Arsenal followed 6ft 5 in Sesko for a very long time, a movement that seems to be nailed in the midst of the transfer saga of the sporty gyoker.
Eventually the North London club gyokeres got over the line.
The strikers offer a similar profile, with the new star of Arsenal, a more traditional, powerful goalkeeper, while Sesko combines physicality with greater mobility.
The Sweden International has scored more than 100 goals for Club and Land in the past two seasons – more than Sesko is still there in his career.
But he is 27. A signing for the here and the now that has already shown what he is capable of with a tall heads in Arsenal's unbridled 3-0 in previous season for Athletic Club.
The goal well from Sesko may not be as impressive as', but his 39 goals for RB Leipzig in all competitions in the past two seasons means that at that time he is in Europe's highest goal scorer of players among the 23's of players under 23.
Carl it stops
Another player who admires Amorim is Brighton – midfielder Carlos Baleba – who has been associated with a switch to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
However, there is an acceptance at United that the Cameroon will not move to them this summer.
The asking price of the seagulls is just too hot for the Red Devils, who have more than £ 200 million this summer splashed on their forward line.
However, Baleba is supposed to assume the move – so pay attention to this space in 12 months.
Sesk on fire
The agent of Benjamin Sesko has confirmed that he had conversations with various other clubs before he sealed the dream switch to Manchester United.
Newcastle's interest was well documented – although there were reports in Spain that Barcelona wanted the Slovenian £ 74 million.
Now Elvis Basanovic – whose Pro Transfer Agency led him through his career – spoke about a few hectic weeks.
But he admits that all their efforts will be worthwhile when he puts foot on the Old Trafford Turf for the first time this weekend.
Basanovic said: “It has been a tough summer. The story dragged on for a long time, including conversations with other clubs.
“There was a lot of work, traveling, stress and little sleep, but in the end it was worth something extraordinary.
“I couldn't wait to see Benjamin walking into the theater of dreams.”
The agent hopes that the story of Sesko will inspire other young players from their little nation to strive for the top.
He added: “Benjamin proved that you can even achieve great things from Kleine Slovenia.
“I hope that other young players will dream big there, work hard and achieve great goals.”
Sign of time
The new signing sessions by Ruben Amorim have recorded the imagination of their supporters this summer.
Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko hope to add the goals and a little excitement that unfortunately were missing last year.
In the meantime, the popular club captain and Talisman Bruno Fernandes has chosen to stay despite strong interest from Saudi Arabia in May.
Nevertheless, club legend Rio Ferdinand revealed that it was a different name that supporters on their backs wanted during the tour through North -America this summer.
Former skipper and center behind Harry Maguire was the most popular name – according to Rio, who interviewed the English defender this week.
This is the one
United does everything to improve the atmosphere in the Theater of Dreams this summer.
Not surprising, given the lack of excitement and goals, things were a bit flat for prem games last season.
Now the Red Army Fan Group has asked that the music is switched off 15 minutes before the start to enable supporters to set up the sound.
The same request has been made for the minutes after a home victory – when foundation guests are currently treated to 'Glory Glory Man United'.
The Old Trafford Faithful has been given the opportunity to complete a survey to make their feelings known about the issue for the curtain booster against Arsenal.
Organizers have made it clear that they still want two traditional pre-match favorites to remain the outcome.
'Country Roads' by John Denver and Stone Roses Classic 'This is Thoor' will continue to be played, regardless of what decides.
Casa Amor
Employees who survived the wave of fired Sir Jim Ratcliffe received metal bottles with metal water with the new motto from the club that had been sprayed: “Badge, Bravery, Spirit” to take home this week.
United's Twist On Love Island bottles served as a reminder of Chief Executive Omar Berrada's newly set core values passed on during a large group meeting in Carrington on Monday.
That meeting served as an opportunity for directors Jason Wilcox and Marc Armstrong, as well as Amorim, to give an overview of how the summer went.
Wilcox, director of the United, welcomed the last signing of Benjamin Sesko during his speech, praising “Benji” to show an enormous desire to become a member of the club.
He claimed that the 22-year-old striker rejected further offers from a higher salary from fellow freeders Newcastle, even after he had agreed personal conditions at Old Trafford-a point that was rejected by people in St James Park.
On the subject of wanting to be above all, Amorim grabbed the opportunity to thank Schipper Bruno Fernandes for bringing a “large money movement to Saudi Arabia”.
This is the first time that United has started a season with the manager and the football structure chosen by both the Ineos regime of Ratcliffe.
