Man Utd had deal ‘ready to go’ before Maguire’s transfer move suddenly collapsed

Harry Maguire may have won Ruben Amorim, but his enchantment at Manchester United could have ended long before he arrived, if not for a move to West Ham that falls through it

Manchester United was all ready to sign the French defender Benjamin Pavard two years ago until Harry Maguire's move got stuck to West Ham. England Center-Back Maguire has navigated dramatic highlights and some extreme lows since he signed in July 2019 for the Red Devils in a huge £ 80 million deal from Leicester City.

After a series of mistakes on Pitch, which led to the United Legend Roy Keane who called him on various occasions, Maguire's time in Old Trafford finally looked at the summer of 2023. Then with former manager Erik ten Hag, the Nu-32-year-old was supposed to take over the requirements after he was incorrect of the club captain.

According to Sky Sports, United had agreed a £ 30 million deal to sell Maguire to the hammers. However, the move fell after the irons became impatient with long -term negotiations. This is despite the fact that West Ham corresponds to personal conditions with Maguire.

His failed move to East London had a serious domino effect for United. The Red Devils needed the £ 30 million to secure Pavard, who was in the last year of his deal in Bayern Munich and a deal was “ready to go” for, per heaven. Since then he has made a switch to Inter Milan.

United had already spent almost £ 200 million that summer on Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund. It was said that they are without much spray space when it comes to financially fair play to close a deal for Pavard, now 29, without first banking the money for Maguire.

The arrival of Ruben Amorim in November 2024 may seemed like the start of the end for Maguire, again, at United. The star born in Sheffield, however, fought back to the team and demonstrated that he can still mix it best, despite the fact that United finally finished in the Premier League last season.

That is the confidence of Amorim in the defender that reports suggest that he is ready to keep Maguire in the club despite widespread interest. Things are complicated by the fact that the former Leicester star will be out of the contract next summer and free to talk to foreign clubs in January.

In a huge show of faith of Amorim, the former sporty CP boss even included Maguire in a six-member leadership group, together with Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Tom Heaton, Noussair Mazraoui and Captain Bruno Fernandes

According to the mail, Maguire wants to sign an extension so that he would play the rest of his career at United. The club would be happy with that scheme, although conversations still have to start.

Maguire's turnaround at United is downright wonderful, and the United -legend Rio Ferdinand recently categorized it as if the player “returned from the dead”.

The former star of England also admitted that he had spoken with Maguire about his processes and trials at Old Trafford. “We had such difficult questions, how is it like you are criticized? And someone who almost got up from the dead showed character,” Ferdinand said.

“He was down and out, but he came back. So to show that character and resilience, it was nice to just get under the skin and talk to him about it.”
