Man Utd in six-club transfer battle to sign Grealish amid Rashford blow

Borussia Dortmund are considering a surprise move for struggling Manchester City star Jack Grealish, but Manchester United are among four Premier League clubs also monitoring his situation.

Dortmund are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks amid a disappointing Bundesliga season and the England winger has been identified as a target. Grealish has been in and out of the starting blocks under Pep Guardiola.

Inter Milan are also interested in the ex-Aston Villa man, whose £100million price tag continues to haunt him. Dortmund themselves have looked at individuals they could bring in and were among those linked to Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester United forward has not played for weeks after being dropped by Ruben Amorim. He has been out in the cold, but is still open to playing for the Red Devils again. He will even train extra in an attempt to get back in.

Dortmund have been linked with a move for Rashford, showing the Manchester team they can handle the outcasts at Old Trafford well after helping Jadon Sancho rediscover his best form last season. Rashford has also been linked with a move to Italy, but nothing has materialized yet.

The Sun understands Grealish is considering a fresh start for himself, with a move to Europe possibly on the cards. There is also domestic interest, with former club Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham monitoring his situation.

Whether United can convince Grealish to move to Old Trafford remains to be seen, but the club are reportedly monitoring his situation.

The 29-year-old has struggled for Guardiola this season, making 11 of his 20 appearances in all competitions. He scored just one goal and added another four assists in his 1,036 minutes of action. His only goal was a penalty in City's 8-0 FA Cup win over League Two Salford, but it was his first in more than a calendar year.

Worryingly for Grealish, Guardiola has admitted he is behind Savinho in the pecking order as he challenged him to return to his previous level. He said: “I fought for him a lot [Grealish]I fought a lot to be here – to say 'come on, do it again, do it again'. I saw him, I saw your level and I want that, every training and every match. Not so, Savinho. Does anyone think Savinho doesn't deserve to play? No. He deserves it [it]. That's why I play him because he produces.

“No matter how much he looks at himself, he will see the competition and he has to compete himself. Savinho is in better shape and everything than Jack and that's why I played against Savinho. I want the Jack who won the treble? Yes. Me I want to, but I try to be honest with myself.”
