Manchester United has launched a complete offer to land Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Slovenian Aas Sesko and Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa formed the shortlist of two men when United tried to give Ruben Amorim the firepower he craves for.
But with Villa on the fact that no deal will be considered for their frontman of England, United has exchanged their visor and now strive for Newcastle from the water to land the £ 70 million-plus Sesko.
United Director of Recruitment Christopher Vivell and negotiator Matt Hargreaves flew to Germany in an attempt to get the deal over the line, although the Old Trafford Club will try to negotiate the asking price of Leipzig.
Vivell was previously at the Red Bull Group who owns Leipzig and Sesko's previous club Salzburg for seven years and has the 6ft 5 in striker, 22, well.
In a recent interview in Germany, Vivell said: “Benjamin Sesko is one of the best young talents of the game and has a huge potential to become a top player. He has all the qualities to do that.
“He is extremely fast, has a great leap on him and is strong in the air. Benjamin is a real goal scorer, who is mobile and technically strong. His capacities make him a special player with a special profile.”
Sun Sport understands that Sesko, who was also on the shortlist of Arsenal in the summer, would rather move to Old Trafford instead of Tyneside.
That is despite the fact that Newcastle offers the prospect of Champions League football, while United has no European football at all this season.
Toon -Baas Eddie Howe is also thought that it would be worried about his prospects to land Sesko, who scored 39 goals during his two seasons in the Bundesliga, now that United makes their move.
But it is unlikely that Leipzig will roll over and Sesko to United on a plate.
They hold on to their £ 70 million appreciation and rejected all Arsenal's attempts to negotiate them, which leads to the gunners who ultimately land Viktor Gyokeres instead of £ 63 million.
Sesko signed in 2023 from RB Salzburg and played 87 games for them, also in the Champions League.
Isak is currently absent in the pre-season tour of the club, with the magpies who explain that he has a “small thigh injury”.
Asked about the links of Isak to the Premier League champions Liverpool, said his teammate Bruno Guimaraes: “He is a top striker, his [record over the] The last three seasons speak automatically, he is a top player.
“But as far as I know, he just stayed there because of his injury, his treatment with the club.”
Last week, Sunsport reported exclusively that Isak had received a £ 32 million a year from Saudi Arabia.
However, his heart is set at Liverpool.
Earlier this month, Newcastle struck the first approach to the Reds on a potential British record £ 120 million relocation.
Sunsport understands that he could now submit a transfer search to switch to a switch to the Premier League champions.
