Man Utd legend accuses their players care more about social media than winning

The stars of Manchester United are more obsessed with what they look like on social media than winning football matches, has claimed a former player.

He believes that they have a lot of clothing and nightlife adventures to show off, but no trophies or medals to post.

Gordon Strachan won the FA Cup with United in 1985 and spent five seasons in Old Trafford, finished second in the first division in 1987-88.

Ruben Amorim's side, on the other hand, is on course for the worst Premier League season of the club when they sit in the table 13th. That said, they have won two trophies in the last two seasons – more than Strachan in his stint with half a decades.

“There are no players who spread a winning mentality,” Strachan told GentingCasino. “They spread Instagram. I know what they do, I know what clothes they wear, I know on which clubs they are. I can see on which boat they are. But I don't see Premier League of Champions League medals.

'Especially in the last six years, that winning culture has been eroded. United probably has a few people, good, such as Fernandes, who is not the perfect captain but a good player, and he is surrounded by this waste. For so many of them it has just been good enough to be a united player. That must change.

'Where can you find these players and people? I really don't know. Because there are probably many people in that dressing room who are so desperate to be led now, because everyone cannot be a leader.

'Amorim and the person responsible for recruitment must find the new one. The club has always had won players-Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo: it's all about winning.

'I don't think it's all about winning that club now. It is a culture that has to change. '

Mail Sport has revealed how United players are starting to doubt the 3-4-3 system of Amorim.

In our al-seeing confidential column in Manchester United, our reporters have uncovered how some players even discussed whether a plan change is needed.

However, the Portuguese are determined that he will not compromise about the philosophy that saw him win two league titles with Sporting CP.

“I have to sell my idea,” he said. 'If I change all the time, it gets worse.

'I understand that they have many difficulties because they have spent two years playing one way and now they play another. With many losses it is really difficult for them. You can feel it, during the game I can feel it, but I have to sell my idea because I have no other.

'If you have a change of coach, especially in this type of club, it is because they were not winning. They played in the system for which they were purchased and were perfectly chosen for that system. After two years, working in the preseason, they lost.

“So I'm going to turn to that system into something I don't believe in? That makes no sense. '

That said, former Scotland manager Strachan hinted that Amorim should be open to adjust his ways.

“It's not the same, but when I went to Middlesbrough, I tried to play the same system that I did at Celtic,” he added. 'I didn't have the players for that, but I persisted, which didn't help and don't help trust in the club.

'So I can see similarities in this and he continues to play this system. But you may not have players who are suitable for that. That's what I would say. If I would give advice, would that be – are you sure? He has now put his hat on it.

“It's like stubbornness. We are stubborn, managers. There is no doubt about that, but you may need a reconsideration. When I went to Coventry, I thought, “Yes, I have this, I can do this.” After five games I had something like “I am against here.”

“Then my coaches said,” Listen, why don't we turn it into three at the back and put Dion Dublin in the middle? ” And we won four games on the trot. '
