Man Utd legend’s trendy restaurant shuts suddenly after going bust with eye-watering debts

A restaurant of the former man United star Ryan Giggs failed.

George's dining room and bar, which suddenly closed last month, were finite with debts of £ 563,600.

This included £ 129.357 to traders, £ 75.616 in taxes and £ 44,095 to bank loans and redstand, according to the last series of accounts for the company.

Giggs, 51, opened George's in Worsley, Greater Manchester, with old school friends Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor in 2014.

Last month the restaurant closed its doors and the blaming “unforeseen circumstances”.

On March 7, the RKB Ventures LTD Company was set up by Giggs and his friends to run the company officially liquidated.

When George is closed, the staff were sent text messages with the knowledge of the bosses “I am sorry that we do not have an alternative with a heavy heart, but to close George's effectively”.

The message added: “This is due to the clear reduction in trade and the business community against the enormous increases in the costs of exploiting the company and the continuous costs of the lifespan.”

An employee then said: 'It came out of nowhere.

“We would all have to work today and then we passed the SMS messages, we are all amazed.”

Former man Utd stars Bryan Robson, Nicky Butt and Gary Neville were all at the opening of George's.

At the time, Giggs, director of Voetbal in Salford City, said of his fellow owners: “We have known each other for 30 years and we always said it would be great to do something like that together.

“We are all local boys and have lived in this area all our life, so we wanted to do something in Worsley and we think we have a completely different offer for the area.”

Giggs is involved in real estate development, hospitality and fashion.

Last year girlfriend Zara Charles, 36, gave birth to daughter Cora.
