Manchester United has viewed both Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokores this summer with the sporty Lisbon star who is now rejecting the chance to move to Old Trafford
Manchester United opened discussions with Victor Osimhen during a summer movement to Old Trafford – only to find out shortly thereafter, Viktor Gyokeres rejected the chance to reunite with Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils are on the market for more firepower this summer and have different fronts on their shortlist. Osimhen and Gyokeres were both considered, their productive nature was in recent years.
FootmerCato claimed that the Premier League side opened discussions with Osimhen, but it was still expected to pursue the signing of Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. Reports in Portugal now claim that the Swede has rejected the opportunity to move to Manchester with his agents who inform United Chiefs about their decision.
Gyokeres is ready to check a new challenge and has threatened strike action to leave a move. He said on Instagram: “There are many conversations at the moment, most is incorrect. I will speak if the time is ripe.”
The last term broke the Swede, who played in England with Coventry and Swansea, the 50 target barrier in Portugal. During his two seasons, he came up with nearly 100 goals.
In the meantime, Osimhen has just spent the year on loan in Turkey, so that Galatasaray claims the competition title. He scored 37 times to continue to place himself in the shop window. Neither he nor Gyokees will be sold cheaply, because Arsenal also keeps an eye on the sportsster.
The sporty President Frederico Varandas said: “One thing that you should already know is better. Threats, blackmail and insults do not work with me. I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for € 60 million+10m+10m (£ 51 million+£ 8.5 million) because I never promised him.
Former United Ster Rio Ferdinand said this week that the club should have given a priority to a move for Osimhen for Gyokeres with the Nigerian who no longer wanted Napoli, despite his impressive success rate in the last third part.
He said: “I think Gyokees, everyone talks about him. Again, I think if I look at the market now and I had to choose him or Osimhen, I would probably choose Osimhen because of that experience.”
“And he has shown that he has now done it in several competitions. And he has also done it internationally. I think he is a number nine of top class that, again, the young players will be able to learn. I am not saying that Gyokees would fail. I only say that if I had a preference, I would go there.”
