Manchester United has had new conversations with the representatives of Kobbie Mainoo about a new contract, while Chelsea is waiting in the wings.
Mainoo, 19, saw conversations about a lucrative new deal at United Stall prior to the winter transfer window. It was when when it appeared that Chelsea was at the front of the queue when the Red Devils decide to reduce their losses and sell Mainoo.
Because the midfielder is a product of the club's academy, United would generate 100 percent profit. Given how Mainoo is said to be appreciated between £ 70 million and £ 80 million, his sale would be a considerable boost for the finances of the Red Devils.
United announced plans last month for more job recovery, after having cut 250 roles last year, after unveiling during the transfer window that were at risk of violating the Premier League profit and sustainability rules. But their ideal scenario is still for Mainoo, currently one of the lowest paid first team players in the Ruben Amorim team, to stay.
United has reopened the conversations with the representatives of Mainoo, who are looking for a deal of £ 180,000 a week for the 19-year-old to recognize his status as a regular and budding English star of the first team. Mainoo is currently supposed to earn around £ 20,000 a week and is under contract until 2027 after he had signed a long -term agreement after his breakthrough in 2023.
United Hope, according to the mail, that a compromise can be reached and that Mainoo remains central in the midfield of Amorim. The 10-way England-International has not played since 7 February because of a calf injury and is not expected to be called by the new Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel prior to their World Cup qualifying double header later this month.
Both Mainoo and colleague coveted United Youngster Alejandro Garnacho were tipped for the starting door in January, but Amorim wants to keep the duo. Asked in January whether difficult decisions were made about the future of players because of the need to comply with PSR, Amorim replied: “That part is true. But I want players such as Kobbie and Garnacho.
“The focus is that we have to improve our academy. And you have to take more with you [through]. That is something that all clubs in England should benefit from.
“The players who come from their academies. To play, to feel the shirt, but also to sell them. So our focus is to bring more [through].
