Manchester United are ready to cut losses on Antony in January as the club prepares to start a new era under Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils spent more than £81.3 million to bring the Brazil international to Old Trafford in 2022. But 24-year-old Antony has never looked to copy the dazzling form that made him such a hit for Erik ten Hag and Ajax in the Eredivisie.
Ten Hag was sacked by United last month and the Daily Star has now revealed that Antony will follow him out the door – if the club can find a taker for the winger in the winter transfer window.
United are said to be willing to listen to offers for Antony. It appears this includes loan proposals if they cannot permanently offload the £200,000-a-week star.
The report reveals that Ten Hag questioned Antony's attitude in training prior to his departure, while sources close to the club have also revealed that the player is considered a 'disruptive influence in and around the squad'.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to take Antony off the payroll following his disappointing impact since joining the club for big money ahead of his own arrival at Old Trafford.
And the Ineos supremo is ready to sanction a move for Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Geovany Quenda to replace Antony next summer.
Quenda, 17, is considered one of Europe's hottest prospects after breaking into the Sporting team under Amorim. And his former boss is keen on the idea of reuniting with the talented teenager in the Premier League.
Quenda has just appointed Cristiano Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, to represent him ahead of a potential blockbuster move next year.
Amorim will take charge of his game since joining United this Sunday when he takes his new team to Portman Road where they will take on new top boys Ipswich Town.
However, he could be without a host of recognized first-team stars, with Lisandro Martinez the latest player to be injured while on international duty. The defender was sent off early with a sore back and it remains to be seen whether he will play for United this weekend.
