Man Utd player ratings: Amad Diallo best of bad bunch in Palace horror show

Ruben Amorim's Spits experiment went down like a lead balloon when Crystal Palace Manchester United defeated 2-0 at Old Trafford.

United set of pieces of misery continued. And double goal scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta was the only striker on the Old Trafford field on Sunday.

Amorim's newest daring new tactics saw midfielder Kobbie Mainoo leading the line as the number 9. And it failed miserably.

Mainoo played on Thursday as number 10 in the Europa League victory of United against FCSB on Thursday. But Amorim cannot do this again in the Prem.

United started well, but soon struggled to get out of their own half when the Eagles set foot and were organized without the ball.

The Red Devils had ten shots in the first half, zero on goal. And Palace showed United how to use wingbacks.

Regardless of the system, individual errors showed the vulnerability lurking below the surface, because Amorim cannot get a tune from this party.

Andre Onana – 5

Was vulnerable by a shaky back line. But his opposite song Dean Henderson, who left Old Trafford to Selhurst Park in 2022, showed him.

Was defeated by Lacroix's Luskop, who came from the bar on the path of Mateta. Not much he could have done about the second goal.

Leny Yoro – 5

Came in for the Ligt, who was gestured. Was centimeter away from the first united goal. His positioning was sometimes a problem.

Harry Maguire – 4

Lost his struggle with striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, who kept the ball up well and withheld every time and was stranded for his goal.

Did not make contact with Yoro. Palace, namely SARR, she both opened them with ease and should have bury some opportunities by Mateta.

Lisandro Martinez – 6

Was stretched after his knee shocked in the 79th minute.

Seems to enjoy his new role in Amorim's 3-4-3, with a sharp, freshly passing deep in the front lines.

The Argentin has recently scored the goals, but has burned the shot of a center-back on the crack of the peace.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5

He was okay in the right wing-back role, but it is clearly not his best position.

Was asked to shoot too often, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both on the couch.

Diogo Dalot – 4

Bizarre appeared for the rear post of Munoz at 10 minutes the chance.

Terrible link-up game with a terrible blind pass in the palace box in a promising team position before the break. He is not a left wing player and it is clear why Patrick Dorgu was signed.

Manuel Ugarte – 6

Missing in the middle then Mateta's beautiful 80-year run. Missed half a chance in the second half.

Bruno Fernandes – 5

Limited. Could not come out much and had bad luck not to score from his usual 20-Yard territory after he was refused by Henderson.

Was booked one of the three united players.

Amad Diallo – 7

Great individual runs, on and out of the ball. Plain back-back after Mainoo had come loose and was involved in something good creative.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

Predictable structure. But worked hard as one of the two 10s.

Kobbie Mainoo – 4

Huge experiment from Amorim to let Mainoo lead the line, albeit false. It didn't pay, but it wasn't all his fault.

It looked promising early when the English star set up Garnacho and hit the mail within six minutes.

But he did not get the service or has the game needed to be effective.

Subs

Hojlund ('70 for Mainoo)

Zirkzee ('70 for Mazraoui)
